THE LEAFS ARE TURNING GREEN AS PROFITS RISE DURING PLAYOFFS

The money has been "rolling in" for Maple Leaf Sports &
Entertainment (MLSE) during the Maple Leafs' playoff run, as
MLSE has been earning around C$2M per game in gross ticket
sales during the first two rounds, according to Gayle
MacDonald of the Toronto GLOBE & MAIL. MLSE CEO Richard
Peddie: "We're in the third round and life is good. ...
Going forward, it does set us up very well. Most of our
corporate sponsors are five years, but when you're dealing
with them, they're happier. Rink boards are getting
exposure they never imagined" (GLOBE & MAIL, 5/21).
IN-THE-RED WINGS: SportsCorp Ltd. President Marc Ganis
said that the Red Wings' failure to advance to the Western
Conference Finals will cost them "in the range of" $14M.
Others "predict" losses of $15M (DETROIT NEWS, 5/20).
