T-C-U BELIEVE IT? SCHOOL INKS MARKETING/MEDIA DEAL WITH ESPN

Texas Christian Univ. (TCU) has signed a five-year
multi-media and marketing agreement with ESPN Regional TV,
according to Keith Whitmire of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. As
part of the deal, ESPN Regional will have "exclusive rights
to TCU's stadium signage, corporate sponsorship, marketing
and promotions." The group will also produce and syndicate
"regional television and radio broadcasts" of TCU football
and basketball games, and "potentially" select some for
national broadcasts on ESPN or ESPN2. The WAC is "expected
to sign" a national broadcast deal with Fox Sports Net, but
ESPN Regional Exec Chuck Gerber is "confident an arrangement
can be worked out." ESPN Regional will cover "all
production costs, which it hopes to recover in advertising
and sponsorship revenue" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 5/19).
