          NFL: Ray Guy, Owner of Sports World of the South, a
     sporting goods retailer in New Orleans, ordered 5,000 "Da
     Dreads," the hot new wigs inspired by Saints RB Ricky
     Williams.  But Guy will "spend the next few months praying
     that nothing dreadful happens to" Williams at training camp. 
     Guy: "Everyone who sells Saints stuff is on pins and needles
     because some teams make rookies shave their heads.  If Ricky
     ends up with a Mohawk, we're all in big trouble" (SI, 5/24
     issue)....BRANDWEEK's Terry Lefton reports that as part of
     its recent three-year, $60M deal with the NFL, Motorola is
     "required to spend a minimum" of $100,000 with each of the
     league's 31 teams (BRANDWEEK, 5/17 issue).   
          NAMES & FACES: MN-based hockey equipment company First
     Team Sports formally announced that Wayne Gretzky will take
     on a broader role with the company.  Gretzky is a board
     member and exec of Hespeler Hockey, a wholly owned
     subsidiary of First Team Sports and has been a spokesperson
     for First Team since '90 (First Team)....Former Phillies P
     Tug McGraw and his wife Diane have formed PA-based marketing
     company McGraw & Company, Inc., which will provide
     consulting for customer/corporate event entertainment, as
     well as secure celebrities for events (McGraw & Company).
