NAMES IN THE NEWS

          Washington Post columnist MICHAEL WILBON was selected
     the Print Sports Journalist Of The Year by Rainbow Sports.
     Vikings coach DENNIS GREEN was named Male Coach Of The Year,
     while Hawks C DIKEMBE MUTOMBO and VENUS WILLIAMS were named
     Male/Female Athletes Of The Year (WASHINGTON POST, 5/16).
     ...In Boston, Fee & Raposa cited sources as saying that
     "only a handful of the 100 or so tables" have been sold for
     the All-Star Tribute for BILL RUSSELL scheduled for the
     FleetCenter on May 26.  MA-based Woolf Associates, which was
     helping to run the event, "resigned last month because of
     'creative and philosophical differences' with producer --
     and Russell confidante -- ALAN HILBURG."  One source: "It's
     a disaster" (BOSTON HERALD, 5/17)....The NHL is offering a
     limited number of tickets to its 16th annual NHL Awards show
     at the Air Canada Centre on June 24.  Tickets are $20 and
     can be purchased through Ticketmaster beginning May 21.  The
     event will be televised live on CBC and ESPN2 (NHL).
