SECOND THAT PROMOTION: PHILLIES SEEK TO INCREASE ATTENDANCE
Published May 13, 1999
The Phillies are "appealing to the passions" of Mets
fans by running ads during Mets broadcasts in NY which
invite N.Y. fans to Philadelphia for this weekend's Mets-
Phillies series, according to Edward Moran of the
PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS. Phillies Promotions Manager John
Brazer said the ads are a promo "trade" running once per
game all week on the Mets' broadcasts on WPIX and Fox Sports
N.Y. Brazer said the Mets will promote their homestand
against the Phillies during Phillies broadcasts next week.
Brazer: "It's not something we have done before. But it
works out for both teams" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 5/13).
RACING HOME: In Philadelphia, Pete Schnatz writes that
former NASCAR driver Richard Petty and Busch Series Drivers
Tim Fedewa, Dave Blaney, Jimmy Kitchens and Bruce Driver
will all appear at Veteran's Stadium on Saturday for "NASCAR
Night at the Phillies." The appearances are part of a
promotion for the First Union 200 to be held at Nazareth
Speedway on May 23 (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 5/13).
