DOES DOLICH GROUP HAVE THE $$ TO COMPLETE DEAL? SOME SAY NO

While Andy Dolich's group was approved by the Oakland
Alameda Coliseum Authority, there is a "lurking fear" that
MLB owners "may nix" the group's proposed acquisition of the
A's, according to Matier & Ross of the S.F. CHRONICLE. One
MLB source: "Dolich has put together a bunch of cats and
dogs, ... and what baseball doesn't want is a bunch of cats
and dogs who want to be able to say at a cocktail party that
they own a baseball team, but who don't have the money to
back it up." Matier & Ross report that while the Dolich
group is being "bankrolled in large part" by Save Mart Chair
Robert Piccinini, there is "some question about just how
deep the grocer's pockets are." Dolich "makes no bones
about the fact that he's still out looking for additional
investors -- he's even looking into whether Ken Hofmann ...
wants to stay on" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 5/12).
JOLTIN' JOE? NBC/ESPN analyst Joe Morgan, on whether he
will remain a member of the Dolich group: "I don't know what
my role or my investment will be, but I'm not looking to be
involved on an everyday basis" (USA TODAY, 5/12).
