highest-rated hockey telecast all-time on Fox Sports SW. It
ranks second to the all-time hockey high of a 5.3 for Game
Seven of the Stars' '97 series against the Oilers. An
average audience of 92,105 homes saw Game Three. Meanwhile,
Game Two on Friday earned a 4.0 rating (FSSW).
OTHER WEEKEND RATINGS: In Boston, Jim Baker reports
that WSBK-UPN "drew easily its best" '98-99 Nielsen rating
with a 6.1/12 for Saturday night's Bruins-Hurricanes Game
Two. Game One on Thursday had a 4.9 rating. Meanwhile, the
Indians-Red Sox series on WLVI-WB earned 6.4, 7.2 and 6.6
ratings from Friday-Sunday for the weekend series (BOSTON
HERALD, 4/27). Game One of the Flyers-Leafs on Thursday
drew 1.528 million viewers on CBC, up from 920,000 on the
second night of the playoffs in '98. The "split" telecasts
on Wednesday night drew 1.183 million, compared to 1.02
million on opening night in '98. At CTV SportsNet,
Wednesday's Mighty Ducks-Red Wings opener had 294,000
viewers (TORONTO SUN, 4/27). In N.Y., the Blue Jays-Yankees
series earned strong numbers on MSG in the NY DMA. Friday's
game earned a 5.54 HH rating, while Sunday's earned a 5.52.
The season average for Yankees games on MSG is 4.82, up 47%
from last year's season average of 3.76 (MSG).
