allowing walk-on roles by sports celebrities: "Stunt casting
is degrading. To have Wayne Gretzky come on and kind of be
cute because he's Wayne Gretzky and have the network promote
it all week makes the rest of us feel 'Why did we bother
showing up to work?'" (WASHINGTON POST, 4/27)....NEWSDAY's
Steve Zipay suggests that if John Elway is "committed to a
broadcast career -- and ABC wants him, ... perhaps [he]
should hone his skills on ESPN's 'Sunday Night Football,'
which could use a facelift anyway. ... Or, if Elway wants to
start on the ground floor, he could cut an announcing deal
with the proposed NBC/Turner summer football league"

Dibble "does a nice job" in his work as an MLB analyst, but
Dibble said he wants "to do more than just baseball."
Dibble: "I'd like to do hard news. I can talk about world

launched a 90-second daily feature called "Total
Baseball.commentary" on the Sports Fan Radio Network. The
show is sponsored by Total Sports and will air three times a
day each weekday throughout the MLB season (Total Baseball).
