NAMES IN THE NEWS

          In N.Y., Mitchell Fink reports that MICHAEL JORDAN has
     "apparently stopped making payments for his niece's college
     education because" her mom, DELORES JORDAN, is "writing a
     tell-all book about him."  Delores told Fink that Michael
     "has cut off all payments" to the school and his niece
     Sherica, and "my book is the reason why."  Delores: "The
     Michael I grew up with was caring and compassionate.  Today
     he's superior, arrogant and boastful.  Michael makes the
     rules now, and everybody jumps but me" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS,
     4/27)....Reds CEO MARGE SCHOTT was released from Jewish
     Hospital on Monday afternoon after spending the weekend
     "undergoing treatment for allergies."  Schott was released
     in "good condition" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 4/27)....ELI BROAD
     "is planning" to build a home on "two parcels" in Malibu. 
     Meanwhile, RUPERT MURDOCH has taken his Beverly Hills-area
     home "off the market."  It was listed in September at $19.5M
     after Murdoch's estranged wife, Anna, filed for divorce
     (L.A. TIMES, 4/25)....Liberty G TERESA WEATHERSPOON will
     sign copies of her book, "Teresa Weatherspoon's Basketball
     For Girls," at the NBA Store Wednesday from 12:30-2:30pm
     (NBA)....DAVID LETTERMAN, on DENNIS RODMAN's appearance on
     "L.A. Doctors" last night: "Dennis Rodman checks into the
     hospital and has his ass pierced" ("Late Show," CBS, 4/26).
