WILL THIS SWISS MISS HER DEALS? FOURTH CO. DUMPS SCHNYDER

In response to 20-year-old Swiss tennis player Patty
Schnyder's relationship with "mysterious 42-year-old German
guru" Rainer Harnecker and her "increasingly strange
behaviour," another of her sponsors, Triumph Sportswear,
"decided to drop her contract, valued at" US$47,063,
according to Steve Keating of the Toronto GLOBE & MAIL.
Triumph became the fourth of Schnyder's seven companies to
drop her as an endorser, joining Crossair, AMAG and Asetra
(See THE DAILY, 4/16). But "no matter what the cost of the
lost sponsorships," which is about US$336,192, Schnyder is
"determined to stand by her man." Schnyder's manager Tons
Haltermann, on the lost deals: "I have to say I saw it
coming due to the conversations I had with sponsors. The
negative publicity of her and her boyfriend was just too
much for sponsors" (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 4/21).
