DISNEY A.B.-CEES BOFFO BUCKS FOR SUPER BOWL XXXIV SPOTS

ABC is "considering charging" $2M for a 30-second spot
during Super Bowl XXXIV, set for January 30, 2000, in
Atlanta, according to AD AGE. An ABC sales exec "would not
comment," but a "number of buyers" said that the $2M figure,
which represents about a 25% increase from the $1.6M average
that advertisers paid for this year's event, "would not
surprise them." One buyer: "ABC will be looking to mitigate
its price by trying to coax us into package deals, including
other Super Bowl programming on ABC and ESPN." A-B "already
has committed" to next year's Super Bowl, and McDonald's is
"said to be looking to buy" four spots (AD AGE, 4/19).
