EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

          The Sports Authority Board Chair JACK SMITH has
     resigned as a Dir in order to "devote full time to other
     interests."  Smith founded TSA in '87 and served as its CEO
     until '98 (TSA).  Smith: "I'm still the largest shareholder
     and have not sold any stock."  Smith added that he is on the
     boards of five other companies and "hopes to get more
     involved in other companies" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 4/19)...
     Columbia Sportswear named VICTOR BIEKER as Dir of Product
     Development & Production for its footwear division (Columbia
     Sportswear)....Ping COO DOUGLAS HAWKEN has been elected as
     President.  Hawken succeeds JOHN SOLHEIM, who has been
     promoted to Chair & CEO.  Hawken will retain his COO duties
     and will continue reporting to Solheim (GOLFWEEK, 4/17).
