FRANCHISE NOTES

NFL: Orioles Owner Peter Angelos said that the Redskins
need to have "a sound financial basis if I'm going to become
involved" in the bidding for the team. He also said he
wanted to check the Jack Kent Cooke estate trustees'
"assertion" that the team would come with $50M "in cash
available to the purchaser." Angelos, on his previous bid
of $625M: "Our review of the numbers of all the details
pertinent to the franchise did not establish that kind of a
value [$800M]. You wouldn't have sufficient funds to build
a winner, which is the ultimate goal" (Baltimore SUN, 4/13).
OH RICKY, OH RICKY! RB Ricky Williams, on signing with
Master P's No Limit Sports: "I think people misunderstand
that about [his] business. He just backs the company. ...
He's a family man who loves his kids, and he's all about
business" ("Up Close," ESPN, 4/12)....Saints Coach Mike
Ditka, on acquiring Williams in the draft: "I'd probably
trade my wife for him" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 4/13).
NBA: T-Wolves Exec VP/GM Kevin McHale, on his future:
"Who knows? I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. I
wasn't that crazy about taking the job in the first place"
(USA TODAY, 4/13)....Raptors ticket prices will remain
unchanged through the first two rounds of the playoffs,
should the team advance that far. However, season-ticket
holders who don't buy tickets to the first two rounds "may
forfeit their opportunity to buy tickets should the Raptors
pull off a miracle" and advance further (TORONTO SUN, 4/13).
...The WNBA Miracle unveiled their uniforms yesterday, and
in Orlando, Jean Patteson describes them as "more functional
than fashionable." They were designed by NBA Creative
Services and Champion (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 4/13).
