A SCHOTT IN THE DARK: PRINCIPALS DISAGREE ON REDS DEAL

Reds CEO Marge Schott met with the team's limited
partners for "nearly" 4 1/2 hours yesterday about selling
her shares of the team, but "no agreement was reached,"
according to Erardi & Hobson of the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER,
whose sources say that the "holdup" to a deal "seems to be
money." Scott's "position" is that the $65M offer from
Cleveland attorney Larry Dolan -- which the partners agreed
to match -- is "no longer on the table." The "operative
deal," which Schott was proposing on Monday, is the deal
proposed by her cousin, Steve Schott. There was a
"difference of opinion" among the principals about "how much
more it would cost the limited partners to match" Steve
Schott's offer (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 4/13). One source on
the limited partners at the meeting: "They said they're
going to match any offer" (CINCINNATI POST, 4/13).
