FACILITY NOTES

          The Mets clubhouse was flooded during yesterday's home
     opener, the result of "a broken water pump."  The flood
     "wrecked the Mets' $200,000 clubhouse renovation," including
     the new wall-to-wall carpeting.  In N.Y., Rafael Hermoso
     writes, "A faint smell of sewage and a whiff of victory
     helped the Mets make light of the minor catastrophe" (N.Y.
     DAILY NEWS, 4/13)....In Philadelphia, Don Russell, on
     Veterans Stadium's debut of the sale of 16-ounce plastic
     bottles of Miller Lite for $5 at yesterday's Phillies' home
     opener: "At a stadium known for the occasional violently
     hurled seat-to-field missiles, arming inebriated fans with
     potential projectiles may be regarded as a South Philly-
     style dare."  Miller Brewing has been test-marketing the
     plastic bottles for several months (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS,
     4/13)....The $169.1M Pepsi Center will be completed in
     October "on time, on budget and at no cost to the
     taxpayers."  Ascent Entertainment Chair & CEO Charlie Lyons:
     "It's going to be a tremendous place to come and be
     entertained.  And it's going to be a facility that makes
     good money" (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 4/10).
