OLYMPIC NOTES

The USOC said the Salt Lake bid scandal cost it $1M in
extra legal fees and asked its board to raise its budget to
"cover the unexpected expenses." The USOC's total budget is
     $452M for four years through 2000 (L.A. TIMES, 4/10)....The
eight U.S. cities bidding for the 2012 Summer Games could
get extra time to submit bids to the USOC to allow time "to
incorporate changes that might be needed" if the IOC is
restructured." Bid dates could be pushed back from March
31, 2000 to "as late" as December 2000 (FT. WORTH STAR-
TELEGRAM, 4/11)....Former U.S. Senator Howard Baker was one
of five non-IOC members appointed to an eight-member ethics
commission to form an IOC code of conduct (Mult., 4/10).
