A new survey of 500 CT adults conducted last week shows
that public support of the Patriots' relocation package has
"eroded" since it was announced in December, according to
Mike Swift of the HARTFORD COURANT. A Courant/CT Poll
conducted by the Center for Survey Research and Analysis at
UConn showed that 45% favor the state's plan to finance a
$374M stadium, down from the 58% that supported the plan in
December. Meanwhile, the percentage opposing the stadium
rose from 35% in December to 48% in the new survey. Asked
if the deal is favorable to the Patriots, 52% feel it is, up
from 38% in December, while 15% feel the "state came off the
winner." Poll Dir G. Donald Ferree: "The climate is more
skeptical; the climate is less generally favorable, than it
was back in December." Support for the stadium "held
strongest in Hartford County," where 50% approve of the
plan, down from 63% who approved of it in December. The
"dwindling of public support" is "marked" in Fairfield
County, where in December 61% said they back the plan, but
support is now down to 41% (HARTFORD COURANT, 3/31).
