SCHOTT-YA! MARGE MAY SELL REDS TO COUSIN?

Reds CEO & President Marge Schott is "interested" in
selling her stake in the Reds to an ownership group that
includes the City of Cincinnati retirement system and her
cousin, investor Steve Schott, according to sources of Geoff
Hobson of the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER. The retirement system,
which provides benefits for city employees, "would be a
major partner" while Steve Schott, who was Reds Exec VP from
'88-'91, would likely "oversee the team." When asked if she
might sell the team to a group that included the city's
retirement fund, Schott said, "We'll see, we'll see." But
some city officials on the board of trustees that operates
the retirement fund "expressed caution" because they believe
MLB "won't allow a public entity to become involved in
     ownership" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 3/26).
