ROGER, OVER AND OUT IN DENVER? PENSKE EYES SPEEDWAY SITES

Penske Motorsports Inc. (PMI) has "walked away from its
option" to buy 640 acres of land near Denver Int'l Airport
to build a superspeedway, according to Chambers & Guy of the
DENVER POST. But "top level" PMI execs said that building
the 110,000-seat track in Aurora "remains one of the
company's top priorities and a new land agreement could take
place by early April." PMI Vice Chair Walter Czarnecki
said, "We're looking at alternative pieces of property right
now." The FAA had stated that PMI's airport site "could
cause interference with radar operations at the airport."
Penske Counsel Rob Kurnick: "We are looking at the same
general vicinity in an area that hopefully won't include the
FAA issues we were struggling with" (DENVER POST, 3/25).
