SELF PROMOTION: REDS LAUNCH FIRST AD CAMPAIGN IN A DECADE

The Reds will introduce their first major advertising
campaign today in more than a decade "in a multimedia
promotion that evokes images of past successes," according
to Cliff Peale of the CINCINNATI POST. Team execs are
hoping that the series of TV, radio, newspaper and billboard
ads will "spark enthusiasm" for the team. The 30- and 10-
second spots will run through April 25. Reds Managing Exec
John Allen said the new campaign offers the "most
promotional coverage since the mid-'80s." Cincinnati-based
Bridge Integrated Communications created the campaign, which
combines images of the Big Red Machine of the mid-'70s with
the play-by-play of games featuring current players such as
Greg Vaughn, Dmitri Young and Sean Casey. The Reds would
not disclose the value of the five-week campaign (CINCINNATI
POST, 3/20). The Reds sold out their April 5 home opener
against the Giants last Friday, marking their earliest
Opening Day sellout since '93 (CINCINNATI POST, 3/20).
