KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY INKS SPONSOR; WHAT'S NEXTEL, YOU ASK?

OH-based uniform supplier Cintas Corp. has signed a five-year deal to become the "first corporate sponsor" of Jerry Carroll's $152M, 65,000-seat Kentucky Speedway, which is set to open in May 2000, according to Mike Boyer of the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER. Cintas becomes the "official uniform supplier for track personnel," supplier of "most of the racing apparel" sold at the facility's gift shop and the "exclusive supplier of work towels to racing teams during events." Cintas, which has several other NASCAR deals, also gets "first pick of 18 choice billboard sites" between the 1.5 mile track's first and second turns. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Cintas VP/Marketing Bill Goetz: "This is a natural for us." KY Speedway VP/Business Development Mark Cassis said that the track is "negotiating a number of corporate sponsorships and has tentative agreements with three other major" companies (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 3/11). PULLED INTO NAZARETH: Nextel Communications and Outback Steakhouse have signed sponsorship deals with Nazareth Speedway in PA for the '99 season. Nextel becomes the "Official Supplier of Wireless Communications to Nazareth Speedway," as it will continue to provide digital cellular and two-way communications services and accessories to the track. Outback and Nazareth will partner on local promos and community events (Nazareth Speedway).
