NO MORE CARROLLING ON WEEI ON MONDAY'S AS STATION EYES MOVES

The Patriots "tore-up" the remaining two years of WEEI-
Boston's day-after radio rights contract after the station
"asked" to be released from the deal, according to Howard
Manly of the BOSTON GLOBE. WEEI, acquired by Entercom last
year, originally paid an "estimated" $500,000 for the three-
year deal, which began last season. The show included
Monday comments from coach Pete Carroll and QB Drew Bledsoe.
The Patriots were "seeking $25,000 more for the rights this
year" but "offered to accept" the current deal with a plan
to split ad revenue "to make up the difference." Entercom
was "reportedly ... steadfast in offering almost" 50% less
than the current package. The team has reached a tentative
new deal with WRNB-AM (BOSTON GLOBE, 2/26).
