JOHN HARRINGTON BRINGS IN A GENIE TO HELP WITH BALLPARK PLAN

          Red Sox CEO John Harrington had AL President Gene Budig
     come to Boston recently to "help pitch business leaders on
     why the Sox must replace Fenway Park," according to Meg
     Vaillancourt of the BOSTON GLOBE.  The meeting earlier this
     month was "sponsored by top Boston Chamber of Commerce
     officials."  Harrington said yesterday, "It was purely an
     informational meeting similar to ones we've held with
     political and community leaders over the past few months." 
     Vaillancourt: "While some skeptics have privately questioned
     the pace of the team's decision-making process, several
     people who attended Harrington's presentation said they no
     longer doubt the Sox are serious about pursuing a new
     ballpark this year" (BOSTON GLOBE, 2/25).
