BACK TO THE FUTURE: ARENA FEATURES TOUT HISTORY

The Pacers are employing some "novel sponsorship"
approaches at their new Conseco Fieldhouse to "help advance
the retro-theme" of the $175M arena, while giving "fans
unique exposure to some of the franchise's largest corporate
sponsors," according to Sean Horgan of the INDIANAPOLIS
STAR-NEWS. The "most startling element will be the
integration of five pavilions spanning the building's
spacious concourses -- three on the first level and two on
the second." The largest two will have more than 8,000
square feet, with the other three encompassing about 4,600
square feet. Each pavilion, which is a "hub to concession
stands at its borders," will be the "domain of a single
sponsor." Each sponsor will "display a unique ... story on
a series of overhead billboards, supplemented by an
interactive space." The stories "will impart something
about the company while plugging" into the state's sports
tradition. Among the corporate partners are Indianapolis
Motor Speedway, shoe retailer Finish Line, the Indianapolis
Star-News, Clarion Health Partners and ATA Airlines.
Officials would not disclose financial terms of the five-
     and ten-year sponsorship agreements (STAR-NEWS, 2/23).
