PIRATES CHOOSE AGENCY TO MARKET PNC PARK; HOPE FOR PENGUINS?

          The Pirates have named PA-based Burson-Marsteller to
     market the new PNC Park.  Pirates VP/Ballpark Development &
     Communications Steve Greenberg: "We were looking for an
     agency that would spark interest, excitement and momentum,
     and help assure that PNC Park will be all that we plan it to
     be."  The ballpark is currently scheduled to open in time
     for the 2001 season (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 2/19).
          PENS PUCKERING UP? PA Gov. Tom Ridge said that he would
     "consider" state funding for a new hockey arena for the team
     -- "but not until the Penguins emerge from bankruptcy
     proceedings and stabilize their ownership," according to
     Barnes & Belser of the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE.  Ridge added
     that he "likes" Mario Lemieux's bid for the team because
     it's "real" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 2/19).
