KIDS IN THE BALL: WHITE SOX TO SPEND $1M ON NEW AD CAMPAIGN

The White Sox announced their biggest-ever advertising
campaign" yesterday, one that features 11 spots focusing on
the team's youth and carries the tagline, "The Kids Can
Play," according to Heather Pauly of the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES.
The campaign is "an advertising departure" for the team,
which has "typically focused on its big-name players."
Pauly reports that team is spending "at least" $1M on the
campaign, the "most it has ever spent on a marketing
effort," though Sox execs "declined to reveal the specific
figure." The 30-second spots, to begin airing Monday, were
created by IL-based Tom Reilly Advertising and mark "the
first time the team has changed agencies." Tom Reilly won
the account after the team conducted a review of 60 Chicago-
     area firms (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 2/18). Chicago-based DiMeo &
Co. handled the team's ad account last year and "opted not"
to take part in the ad review (DAILY SOUTHTOWN, 2/18)
