          VENUS and SERENA WILLIAMS are having a new home built
     "just down the street from their parents' place" in Palm
     Beach Gardens, FL.  Their attorney, KEVEN DAVIS, said the
     two sisters were "not rebelling" against their parents:
     "Venus will be 20 and Serena, 19 [by the construction date]. 
     It's just time to move out" (TENNIS WEEK, 2/11)....Mavericks
     C JOHN "HOT ROD" WILLIAMS is "collaborating" with PERCY
     "MASTER P" MILLER on a land project (FT. WORTH STAR-
     TELEGRAM, 2/16)....Faithful Red Sox fan STEPHEN KING will
     release "A LOST GIRL AND TOM GORDON" on April 6, a novel
     about a little girl that gets lost in the woods while
     listening to a Red Sox game in which Red Sox P TOM GORDON is
     pitching (K.C. STAR, 2/14)....The '68 Heisman Trophy of O.J.
     SIMPSON "fetched only" $230,000, "well under" the expected
     $400,000, at an auction at the BUTTERFIELD & BUTTERFIELD
     gallery in L.A. An "estimated 10,000 viewers followed" the
     auction on the Internet (USA TODAY, 2/17)....BARBARA BUSH
     was a keynote speaker at the Golf Course Superintendents
     Association of America annual convention.  Bush, on her
     experience playing golf with her husband: "After one
     miserable round, I told George I wanted to throw myself in
     the ocean.  He said, 'Wouldn't be pruuudent.  Not to
     woooorry.  You couldn't keep your head down long enough'"
     (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 2/17)....TARA LIPINSKI appeared on the
     "Late Show" last night.  DAVID LETTERMAN, on "Discover Stars
     on Ice," in which Lipinski participates: "People don't wager
     on that do they?" ("Late Show," CBS, 2/16).  MICHELLE KWAN
     was a guest on the "Tonight Show" (NBC, 2/16).
