TOUGH DAY ON THE COURSE: FAMILY GOLF DROPS 44% ON THE STREET

          NY-based Family Golf Centers "lost almost half its
     market value" yesterday, "plummeting 5 15/16, or 44%, to a
     52-week low of 7 1/2," according to the WALL STREET JOURNAL. 
     FGC said its fourth-quarter earnings will "fall short of
     analysts' projections."  The company said the "shortfall was
     because of underperforming golf centers it acquired last
     year and that the sites will more than likely 'continue to
     underperform in the near term'" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 2/17).
