CTV BID ACCEPTED BY SHAREHOLDERS, BUT BIG STEPS STILL LOOM

          NetStar Communications' shareholders yesterday accepted
CTV's buyout bid, but Rob Ferguson of the TORONTO STAR
writes that CTV's quest for the network, which includes TSN,
"isn't over yet," as it must now convince Canada's Federal
Competition Bureau and the Canadian Radio-TV and Telecom
Commission (CRTC) to approve its purchase. CTV, owner of
SportsNet, will present its application for CRTC approval
"in the coming weeks," and a hearing is expected in the fall
with a decision by the end of the year. Industry observers
say CTV "may have a tough time" convincing the CRTC to allow
it to keep SportsNet along with TSN (TORONTO STAR, 2/11).
