WILL MOLSON GRIN AND BEER IT; ACKERLEY REPORTS LOW PROFITS

Molson Cos. said that it "has no plans to sell" the
Canadiens or the Molson Centre, despite its Molson Sports &
Entertainment (MSE) division reporting a quarterly operating
profit of about C$400,000, compared to C$9.1M a year
earlier, according to James McCarten of the CP. MSE also
reported C$2.9M in losses through the first nine months of
FY '99 due to "higher hockey operating costs and fewer home
games in the quarter." Molson CEO James Arnett: "Exactly
how we make economic sense of this aspect of our business
continues to be an issue for us. One of the things we are
currently doing is analysing very closely the relationship
between the hockey brand and the beer brand" (CP, 2/10).
LOCKOUT LOSS: The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER reported that WA-
based Ackerley Group, which owns the Sonics and Full House
Entertainment, said that its '98 profit "plunged" 42% to
     $19M from $33M, or $.60 a share from $1.04 a year ago. The
company cited the NBA lockout (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 2/10).
