RATINGS NOTES: Fox's coverage of the NHL All-Star Game was the lowest rating ever for the event, with the ratings down 19% from last year's 2.7. The game was the highest- rated sports event of the weekend among male teens (2.7)....The 2.9/7 two-day average for the Bob Hope Classic was down 30% from last year's 4.0/9 on NBC (THE DAILY). NBA ACTION: Wednesday's debut of Knicks G Latrell Sprewell scored a 4.04 cable rating on the MSG Network, a 223% increase over last year's first Knicks preseason game. The post-game "National Finance Sportsdesk," hosted by Marv Albert, received a 1.25 cable rating, its second highest since Albert's return to TV last September (MSG)....The Rockets-Spurs preseason opener on Tuesday produced the highest-rated NBA telecast in three seasons for Fox Sports SW, scoring an 8.2 Nielsen rating in Houston and a 14.3 cable TV rating when factoring in Houston's 57% cable penetration. The game's lead-in helped "FSN" to outdraw ESPN's "SportsCenter" in the Houston market by 3-1 (Fox).
