MASTER P THE BUZZ IN CHARLOTTE AS HORNETS SIGN RAP STAR

The Hornets have added rap artist and sports agent
PERCY "MASTER P" MILLER to the team's training camp roster,
according to Leonard Laye of the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. Miller
will be one of 15 players at the opening of camp, but "he's
a long shot to stick for the regular season." Hornets VP
Bob Bass: "We're just going to give him a shot and see how
he looks against some NBA players" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER,
1/21). Meanwhile, LSU attorney MIKE PHARIS said he "asked"
to meet Master P, whose sports management company No Limit
Sports is based in LA. Pharis has "great concerns" about
Miller's relationships with LSU athletes. A meeting has yet
to be arranged (New Orleans TIMES-PICAYUNE, 1/19). Two of
Master P's clients, Cavs G DEREK ANDERSON and Celtics G RON
MERCER, will appear in the film, "No Tomorrow." Anderson
also has a rap CD coming out (BEACON JOURNAL, 1/19).
JOHNNIE'S GARDEN: In Milwaukee, Michael Hunt reports
that agent JOHNNIE COCHRAN was in WI Wednesday looking for
Bucks F RAY ALLEN. Allen is about to begin contract
extension talks with the Bucks, but "doesn't have an agent
because he doesn't want to pay the commission." Allen was
absent from yesterday's workout (JOURNAL SENTINEL, 1/21).
