COS AND EFFECT RELATIONSHIP: DETAILS OF NEW NETS PARTNERSHIP

Comedian Bill Cosby has "bought stock" in the CYO
component of the Nets ownership group, which consists of
Nets co-Chair Lewis Katz and the Van Beuren Management
Trust, and is the "largest ownership interest" in the team,
according to Guy Sterling of the Newark STAR-LEDGER. Team
President Michael Rowe said that the NBA approved Cosby as
part-owner yesterday and that he "will use his star quality
and enormous energy to attract more people into the goals
and mission" of the Nets' CYO component. Katz said that one
of Cosby's responsibilities will be getting involved in
halftime presentations to honor "people from all walks of
life" and that the CYO "was not pursuing new investors" when
Cosby was brought aboard. Cosby is also buying two
courtside seats for home games (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 1/14).
