          GARTH BROOKS has formed, "Touch 'Em All: Teammates For
     Kids," a foundation that earns money for children's charities
     based on MLB players' performances.  Tigers CF BRIAN HUNTER,
     Padres 1B WALLY JOYNER and RF TONY GWYNN and Pirates C JASON
     KENDALL joined Brooks in announcing the new group (DETROIT
     FREE PRESS, 1/11)....FIFA President SEPP BLATTER, on his
     proposal to make the World Cup a biennial event: "Certainly I
     will get my plan through.  Something as radical as this must
     be blessed from the broadcast level, and that means from the
     FIFA Congress next year" (USA TODAY, 1/12).
