ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A RADIO BROADCAST DEAL

Radio broadcasting rights, preseason TV rights and
related programming for the Browns are "still up for grabs,"
according to Lubinger & Feran of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER.
Experts "are estimating the radio rights could exceed" $4M a
year, while preseason TV rights "should easily top six
figures per game." Sports programming consultant James
Glass, a former Cleveland radio GM: "It's revenue, market
position, recognition with the heart and soul of Cleveland
sports. To get the Cleveland Browns would be a major coup
for any broadcast operation." Browns President Carmen
Policy says the Browns "aren't looking for anything longer
than a three-year deal" and would "prefer not handling their
own broadcast operations immediately." Policy also said he
"expects to close a radio deal" by January 15, and "hopes to
complete the preseason TV rights contract by late January"
(Lubinger & Feran, Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 12/21).
