I'LL BE DOME FOR CHRISTMAS: SKYDOME LEGAL BATTLES CONTINUE

SkyDome and its creditors were in negotiations Monday
"to avoid yet another legal skirmish involving the debt-
ridden facility," according to Michael Grange of the Toronto
GLOBE & MAIL. The stadium's bondholders, who are owed more
than C$58M, "were said to be close to agreeing to drop a
legal appeal filed on Friday," according to sources close to
the talks. SkyDome Corp. counsel David Baird said that the
facility will not be allowed to draw on the C$3.5M loan it
received "to meet on-going operational needs" until the
appeal is settled. The bondholder's appeal deals with three
issues surrounding SkyDome being given court protection from
its creditors: authorization to sign an interim one-year
lease with the Blue Jays; SkyDome's ability to use C$1.3M
from a capital reserve fund to finance renovations; and the
stadium's right to receive a C$3.5M loan from the Jays that
has priority over its existing debts (GLOBE & MAIL, 12/22).
