LEAGUE NOTES

          On L.I., Zak Ivkovic, on Doug Logan's blasting of the
     media regarding MLS coverage: "Is [MLS] football?  No, but
     it deserves more than it gets, particularly with no NBA
     games.  Thumbs up for Logan for sticking up for the sport"
     (NEWSDAY, 12/20).  In Chicago, John Baughman wrote that
     Logan "was more right than wrong when he lambasted media
     coverage" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 12/20)....Tryouts for the MN
     Vixens and Lake Michigan Minx of the Women's Professional
     Football League, which hopes to begin play in '99, were held
     Thursday at the Metrodome (AP, 12/20).
