LEAGUE NOTES

In Newark, Yi-Wyn Yen profiles the Tour Players
Association, and writes that the four-month-old group of
touring pros is "trying to get the PGA to open up its books
and cut players in for a bigger piece of the action." Yen:
"Room for the TPA's growth or demise is more an issue of
player participation than any PGA Tour plans to squash
them." Yen adds that the TPA needs the backing of
"heavyweights" such as Tiger Woods and David Duval "in order
to grow" (STAR-LEDGER, 12/18)....In Orlando, NFL Europe
President Oliver Luck announced that the six-team league
will hold training camps for the '99 season at six sites
around Orlando (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 12/18)....Board game
inventor Robert Poole will challenge local football referees
at the Official All Star Cafe today in N.Y., to promote his
new "Rules of the Game" (All Star Cafe).
