COME BUY THE FRIENDLY SKYDOME -- BUT BRING AN EXTRA C$2M

SkyDome President Patrick McDougall said that the
stadium "may ask a successful bidder for the financially
strapped" facility to provide C$2M in assistance, money it
needs to "stay open until the end of February," according to
Tony Van Alphen of the TORONTO STAR. McDougall: "The
winning bidder may be asked to carry us for the period, but
we haven't determined if that will be the final decision."
The bidding process for SkyDome "should be complete" by the
end of January. SkyDome, which currently has a standing
offer of C$100M from Sportsco for the stadium, is currently
operating under court protection from creditors and will ask
Friday for that protection to be extended until February 28
to auction off the stadium (TORONTO STAR, 12/16). More
McDougall: "If we had no other interest, I'm sure we'd go
further down the road with these (Sportsco) people, but we
have other expressed interest" (TORONTO SUN, 12/16).
