FACILITY NOTES

          The Spurs will present their arena plan to the North
     East School District trustees tonight at 7:00pm CT, but in
     San Antonio, Cecilia Balli reports that "a majority of
     trustees were sounding the death knell Sunday night" (SAN
     ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS, 12/14).  Also in San Antonio, Kevin
     O'Keeffe reports that Spurs Exec VP Leo Gomez releasing a
     six-month-old e-mail from School Board President Bruce
     Bennett (see THE DAILY, 12/11) "shows the Spurs will go to
     any length to get their way" (S.A. EXPRESS-NEWS, 12/14).
          OTHER NOTES: Red Sox Exec VP/GM Dan Duquette, on plans
     for a new ballpark: "We've got a good plan.  It's coming
     along nicely.  We've just got to figure out how to pay for
     it."  The team hopes to announce the ballpark plan before
     spring training (PROVIDENCE JOURNAL, 12/13)....In N.Y., John
     McQuiston reported that the "on-again, off-again" talks over
     the future of the Nassau Coliseum "are on again, and all
     sides say they are optimistic that a deal to build a new
     arena may be just around the corner" (N.Y. TIMES, 12/13).
     ...In San Jose, Jody Meacham examined the MLB Giants' effort
     to build the privately-financed Pac Bell Park.  Giants Exec
     VP Larry Baer: "A lot of teams don't want us to succeed. 
     Anyone who has gone to the public or is preparing to wants
     to see our deal die" (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 12/13).
