NAMES IN THE NEWS

          Former Mets Chair M. DONALD GRANT, "best known for
     trading pitcher Tom Seaver" in '77, died Saturday at the age
     of 94.  Grant was Chair of the team from its inception in
     '62 until '78 (N.Y. TIMES, 11/30)....BUSINESS WEEK profiles
     MICHAEL OVITZ, noting that he "has strung together a series
     of investments that may produce a new empire that will focus
     largely on 'out-of-home' entertainment" (BUSINESS WEEK,
     12/7)....JONATHAN FEINBERG, who operates the sports
     marketing firm Pro2Pro, was profiled by Scott Farmelant of
     the BOSTON HERALD.  Feinberg reps players including Patriots
     LB TED JOHNSON and RB ROBERT EDWARDS "in their quest for
     local, regional and national endorsements" (BOSTON HERALD,
     11/29)....The Baltimore Sun's JON MORGAN contributed an op-
     ed in NEWSDAY on Sunday on the state of sports in the U.S.
     in light of labor disputes and escalating ticket costs. 
     Morgan: "The sad reality is that the American sports fan is
     the Neville Chamberlain of pop culture, a hopelessly
     accommodating creature who clings to appeasement well past
     the point of reason" (NEWSDAY, 11/29).
