WHEN COLLEGE HOOPS TEAMS GO BAD: FSN'S FRESNO DOCUMENTARY

Fox Sports Net will air "Between The Madness," a two-
hour documentary on the '97-98 Fresno State Univ. basketball
season, tomorrow at 8:00pm ET/PT. "Between The Madness" is
produced and directed by Gary Cohen and Paul Doyle of
Broadway Network Television (Fox Sports Net). In Portland,
John Hunt reported that Doyle was "less than thrilled" with
the documentary's 8:00pm time slot on Thanksgiving night.
Doyle: "I don't get that decision, to be honest; that was a
Fox decision" (John Hunt, Portland OREGONIAN, 11/20).
REVIEWS: In Orange County, Steve Grimley called the
documentary "fascinating in the way a train wreck can be
fascinating -- almost morbidly so" (O.C. REGISTER, 11/19).
In Ft. Worth, David Markiewicz called it "so intimate it
     feels like eavesdropping" (STAR-TELEGRAM, 11/21). In L.A.,
Larry Stewart: "Maybe the best thing about the documentary
is that it presents all facets, good and bad, without making
any judgements" (L.A. TIMES, 11/24). In Richmond, Jerry
Lindquist: "If you like home movies with a bunch of bad kids
making themselves look worse apparently without realizing
it, this is for you" (RICHMOND TIMES-DISPATCH, 11/23). In
Pittsburgh, Chuck Finder: "It should be mandatory viewing
for all fans, all athletes, all coaches, all university
types. Because you couldn't help but be embarrassed when
the producers lift the rock and show the dirt underneath" in
     college athletics (POST-GAZETTE, 11/19). On L.I., Steve
Zipay wrote that the show "might be worthy of a sequel"
(NEWSDAY, 11/20). In Chicago, Ed Sherman called it a
"superior sports television event" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 11/23).
