WOMEN'S SPORTS GETS SOME OXYGEN? FIT TV'S NEW PROGRAMMING

Fox/Liberty Networks' Fit TV "is getting a makeover,
shifting from a format of wall-to-wall exercise shows to one
of lifestyle programming aimed at women 18-49," according to
John Dempsey of DAILY VARIETY. Fit TV VP/Program Production
& Development Marc Krigsman said he "took his cue" from
"women's magazines on the newsstand devoted to fitness,
which included articles on everything from fashion and
vacation activities to pets and parenting." The new lineup
will launch in January, and will include "American Health &
Fitness" and "Fitness Adventures," an in-house production
that will also appear on the Outdoor Life Network, which
Fox/Liberty also hold an interest in. Eight similar
lifestyle shows are in production (DAILY VARIETY, 11/24).
NEW NET: Oxygen Media, the cable TV/online company
started by former Nickelodeon President Geraldine Laybourne,
has entered into a partnership with Oprah Winfrey and
Carsey-Werner-Mandabach Co. "to create" a cable TV network
aimed at women viewers (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 11/24).
