THE WAITING IS THE HARDEST PART: CANADIAN VOTE COUNT DELAYED

          Ballots from the 74 delegates of the Canadian Olympic
     Association who voted Saturday on whether Calgary, Vancouver
     or Quebec City will bid for the 2010 Winter Games will be
     counted on December 1, so the results "don't affect the
     Quebec election" on November 30 (Ryan Pyette, CALGARY SUN,
     11/22).  In Toronto, James Christie writes that delaying the
     ballot count is an attempt to "stop the site selection from
     being a political football" (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 11/23).
