A'S GOOD AS IT GETS? COUNTY, TEAM MULL NEW SETTLEMENT OFFER

Alameda County and the A's are "considering a
settlement" that would "remove some of the barriers to a
sale in exchange for about" $9M in concessions to the A's
and a $2M cash payment, according to Laura Counts of the
OAKLAND TRIBUNE. Earlier attempts to settle the A's $48M
arbitration claims "have failed." Also, four individuals or
groups, two of which have gone public, are beginning MLB's
pre-approval process in their attempt to buy the A's. One
group includes former A's Exec VP Andy Dolich, MLB analyst
Joe Morgan and Men's Wearhouse Founder & CEO George Zimmer.
The second potential buyer is NBA Kings/WNBA Monarchs
Minority Owner John Kehriotis, who said that he is backed by
the Santa Clara-based Greater Bay Bank, owned by the Greater
Bay Bancorp in Palo Alto, CA (OAKLAND TRIBUNE, 11/22).
