CASEY'S KASEM? WASSERMAN BRINGS ARENA TEAM TO L.A.

          The AFL awarded an expansion franchise to Wasserman
     Foundation COO Casey Wasserman and the City of L.A. that
     will begin play in April 2000 at the Staples Center.  Plans
     are forthcoming in regard to a team name, logo and ticket
     information.  Wasserman currently serves on the Board of
     Library Commissioners for L.A. (AFL).  Wasserman, 24, is the
     grandson of former MCA/Universal Chair & CEO Lew Wasserman. 
     In L.A., Howard Beck reports that the franchise fee was not
     disclosed, but Wasserman paid "no less than" $7M for the
     franchise.  Beck adds that the AFL has "already failed twice
     to catch on in this region," but that Wasserman is
     "undaunted" (Howard Beck, L.A. DAILY NEWS, 11/20).
