FACILITY NOTES

In Houston, the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority
voted Thursday "to acquire two valuable blocks around the
Ballpark at Union Station" so one can be turned into a park
and the other into a Metropolitan Transit authority bus
center. But the HOUSTON CHRONICLE's John Williams reports
that there is still "a question of jurisdiction" regarding
whether the Sports Authority can take land for projects
"without voter approval" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 11/20)....In
Milwaukee, the Stadium Board yesterday approved the city's
latest plan for paying its $18M Miller Park infrastructure
bill, "clearing the last known financial hurdle facing the
ballpark project." Construction on Miller Park, which began
in October '96 and is scheduled to be finished in April
2000, is more than 40% complete (JOURNAL SENTINEL, 11/20).
