Tom Kite has "confirmed" that he will be leaving Hogan
after 10 years to pursue a deal with Titleist, according to
Doug Ferguson of the AP. Kite's equipment contract with
Hogan expires in December and he tested a set of Titleist
DCI irons this past weekend (AP, 11/18).
NO ADS FOR MAXFLI: Ferguson also writes that Fred
Couples has been playing the new Maxfli Revolution irons
since the PGA Championship and "apparently will stick with
them." But TearDrop recently "picked up the contract rights
to Couples in its acquisition of certain Lynx assets in
bankruptcy court" and they hope to have Couples play with a
set of their clubs "soon." TearDrop spokesperson Seth Ader:
"He just didn't want to change clubs in the middle."
Couples has a three-year deal with Maxfli balls, but Maxfli
will not be able to advertise that he plays its irons due to
TearDrop's contractual agreement on clubs (AP, 11/18).
DEAL: Peter Jacobsen Productions was named the event
management company for the Reno-Tahoe Open, to be held at
Montreux Golf & Country Club in NV next August (THE DAILY).
