Blue Jays P Roger Clemens, who won his record fifth AL
Cy Young Award yesterday, used his own Web site "to vent,"
as he "ripped into" Jays ownership, according to Tom Maloney
of the NATIONAL POST. Team GM Gord Ash "dismissed Clemens'
criticisms, but Maloney wrote that the Web "rant," which was
accompanied by ads for $109 autographed baseballs,
"delivered one more PR blow to the Jays' ownership"
(NATIONAL POST, 11/16). Clemens' interview was posted
Friday on http://www.rocketroger.com, and in it, Clemens
said, "My understanding from Day One, was that the Jays were
going to 'put the pedal to the metal' and go for it. ... I
don't know what's going to happen. Because I don't think
they know. And I hope people remember that this makes two
years now that they 'don't know.' That was not what I was
told the game plan was when I made the decision to come to
Toronto over a number of other teams" (THE DAILY).
KEITH'S TAKE: MSNBC's Keith Olbermann noted that team
Owner Interbrew could be looking to trade Clemens: "The Jays
have to pay the Rocket $11,350,000 over the next two years
and the team owners, a Dutch Brewery, frankly do not know
Roger Clemens from Samuel L. Clemens" (MSNBC, 11/16).
