THE NEW ROYALS SUBJECTS: PRENTICE OWNERSHIP GROUP GETS OK

Miles Prentice "finally got the nod" to buy the Royals
on Friday, although the sale must still be approved by MLB's
ownership committee, according to Charles Crumpley of the
K.C. STAR. Royals President Michael Herman called
Prentice's $75M bid "the most straightforward" of the bids
for the team and "assures (us) of keeping baseball here" in
K.C. Crumpley wrote that the $75M paid for the team and
$50M previously raised in the community, which is now held
by the Greater K.C. Community Foundation, "will flow to
charities." Prentice's ownership group is composed of 75%
local money and consists of 16 new local investors. It does
not include Royals VP/Baseball Operations George Brett, but
Prentice said that he was hoping "some sort" of relationship
with Brett could be worked out (K.C. STAR, 11/13).
SALE NOTES: The K.C. STAR listed the 23 known investors
     in Prentice's group in Saturday's edition 11/14)....The

     $25M (Dick Kaegel, K.C. STAR, 11/13).
